About Our Programs

about-programs

We teach using The Creative Curriculum, one of the five New Jersey state-certified early learning programs.  This research-based curriculum fosters growth and development by:

  • Offering age-appropriate activities
  • Helping children develop self-esteem
  • Teaching by discovery
  • Providing individual and peer group activities
  • Promoting variety to stimulate interest
  • Assessing children’s learning
  • Ensuring a safe, secure environment
  • Emphasizing the relationships between teachers and children and their families
  • Developing a classroom community

The innovative programs at the Blake Center give children every opportunity to grow and learn by using age-appropriate skills for physical, cognitive, social and emotional development. Daily classroom experiences promote the development of healthy relationships with other adults and children and encourage the positive development of your child’s self-image and esteem.  Highly experienced teachers involve children in planning their own activities and teach them to interact and thrive within a community.

The Blake Center maintains low teacher to child ratios with a focus on individualized attention and support.  All of our classrooms have at least one teacher certified in Early Childhood Education and one skilled Assistant.  All of our educators are caring individuals who enjoy working with children and are carefully screened and trained by the Center’s Director.  We are committed to hiring and retaining the best child care staff.  This commitment is reflected in the 10 ½ year average tenure of our teachers and administrators.

Working in partnership with parents is a key part of our child care programs. Our educators are child care experts who are committed to establishing a strong parent/teacher relationship.  Open, informative communication about your child’s day is maintained throughout the year.  In addition, annual speech and language screening enables the center to track your child’s progress and provide parents with a clear picture of verbal development.

The child care programs at the Blake Center serve the various needs of all families, including single parent and dual career families, by providing support systems such as parent education, referral and parenting networks.  We invite family participation in planned activities and assure a comprehensive, year-round program.
